FRANKENSTEIN’S
BEAUTY
This solo is inspired by a few of the most famous bits and pieces
of Mary Shelley’s biographical story. As the author of Frankenstein,
she was one of the first women who talked about the concept of ‘monstrosity’,
exploring and remixing borders between human and non-human. In her
reknown science fiction she created a totally new space, focused
on a different kind of protagonists voice, which permitted other
points of view to come out, rather than the ethical and aesthetic
canons of her time, points of view which are still extremely current.
The dance and the ‘rant’ of this piece proceed on a
discontinuous line, allowing some suggestions in, and pointing to
the maze of ethical and cultural monstrosities towards the women
of our time on one hand , and, on the other , related to our own
intimate human being. In this work pop songs contaminate dance and
words.
